This initiative was launched as a proof-of-concept pilot in 2022 as has been engaging in the Australian system for two years with the participation of 27 signatories from across the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America. The initiative enables investors to work collaboratively to support governments to take all possible steps to mitigate climate change consistent with their commitment to the goals of the Paris Agreement, in line with investors’ fiduciary duty to mitigate financial risk and maximise long-term value of assets. Following the initial success of the pilot, the PRI is now preparing for an initial expansion of the initiative in 2025.
This session provided further insight into:
- The practice of sovereign engagement
- The Australian engagement
- The investor experience in the initiative
- How the PRI is approaching new market selection
- How the PRI is planning to structure the expanded initiative
- When and how signatories can apply to join
Signatories had an opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the PRI’s plans and approach to market selection ahead of details being confirmed in Q1 2025.
