Championing climate action is a strategic priority for the PRI. As part of this, the PRI introduced in January 2018, TCFD based climate risk indicators to our reporting framework. The indicators are design to complement, not replace, TCFD reporting and are a means for signatories to try climate-related reporting and compare their responses with their peers. These indicators were voluntary for signatories to report to in 2018 and 2019. Investor signatories can opt to make their responses public or private to the PRI. New aggregated analysis of the 2019 responses to these indicators are now available with the 2019 PRI climate snapshot. Key highlights from this includes:

• 591 investors signatories with $49 trillion in assets voluntarily reported to the PRI on the climate risk related indicators. An increase of 111 investors reporting on the previous year.
• 221 investors have opted to publish their responses to the TCFD based indicators. These responses are available in full in the links to the climate transparency reports below.
• Anonymous interpretation of the responses grouping signatories across four categories: not reported (1119 investors), responsive (454 investors), responsible (108 investors) and strategic (29 investors)

As previously announced, reporting against the governance and strategy indicators (included on this page) will become mandatory for PRI signatories from 2020 onwards. This will be a non-assessed part of the PRI reporting framework in 2020 and investors can still opt whether to make their responses public or private to the PRI. The 2019 climate snapshot can provide a resource for investors looking to analyse how their peers are assessing and reporting climate-related risks and opportunities.
