1. Access the Data Portal

Signatories need to log in to the Data Portal to view their 2021 private Transparency Report. If needed, you can reset your passwords here.

Main admins and admins of signatory organisations are already set up to access the Data Portal using their existing PRI credentials (your email and PRI password).

Contributors may not have access to the Data Portal even if they have access to the Reporting Tool. Contributors of signatory organisations must request access from their main admin or admin to gain access to the Data Portal.

New users, i.e., signatory contacts that have not registered for PRI platforms, can gain access to the Data Portal by:

  • Registering for a PRI account on behalf of their signatory organisation here then,

  • contacting their main admin or admin requesting access to the Data Portal. Main admins and admins should follow the below steps to give new users access.

Main admins and admins can add contributors to the Data Portal by:

  • Accessing the permission system here;

  • Selecting the ‘Users/Roles’ tab;

  • Ticking the ‘Data Portal contributor’ box next to a user’s name if they are already in the system; or

  • Selecting ‘Invite User(s)’ to add the new user if they are not already in the system.

  • Please see the PRI’s brief permissions system guide for more information.

Should you experience an issue with how the Data Portal is displayed in your browser, please follow the below steps:

  1. Perform a hard refresh of the page:

    • Chrome, Firefox or Edge for Windows: Press Ctrl+F5, Shift+F5 and/or Ctrl+Shift+R

    • Chrome or Firefox for Mac: Press Shift+Command+R

  1. Clear you cache and cookies - please see the instructions for your specific browser:  Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari .

2. Download your private Transparency Report from the Data Portal for review

In the Data Portal, signatories can view their report in the “My Transparency Report” section. This is accessed via the homepage of the Data Portal.

See the Data Portal guide for more information on how to access your private Transparency Report.

3. Review the list of affected indicators alongside your private Transparency Report.

Missing Data Investors & Service Providers

In October, signatories were informed via email of indicators where data was missing from their report. Investors were asked to refer to the email with the subject line Next steps on your reporting and assessment programme, for information about missing data. Service providers were asked to refer to the email with the subject line Next steps on your reporting programme, for information about missing data. Signatories were asked to check their responses to the indicators with missing data and in their downloaded Transparency Report where applicable.

Indicator Errors Investors

A few indicators were also affected by technical issues in the Reporting Tool, which means signatories may not have seen an answer option that was available to select. In October, we asked signatories to review the list of affected indicators, and check their responses to the indicators with errors in their downloaded Transparency Report. Not all indicators were applicable to all signatories, and some signatories may not have been impacted by indicator errors.

In October, signatories could check for missing data and indicator errors by:

  • Reviewing their responses in their private Transparency Report downloaded from the Data Portal.

  • Using the offline module MS Word document for investors or service providersto check whether the indicator was applicable to you, and using the answer options, indicator explanatory notes, and logic notes to ensure you answered the question completely and accurately.

  • Checking the logic section to see if indicators with missing data or indicator errors were applicable to your organisation. If any indicators were applicable, signatories were asked to check the "Gateway to” section of the logic to ensure all relevant indicators were answered. Below is an example of the logic in the Reporting Framework:

Accepted changes policy

In 2021, PRI considered change requests related to the defined data issues only.

This includes:

  • Those indicators specifically flagged by PRI as affected by indicator errors and data gaps.

Indicators that did not have indicator errors or data gaps themselves but were directly impacted by indicators that had indicator errors or data gaps (i.e., indicators triggered by the logic of a requested change).

  • Indicators related to increased transparency by:

    • changing the disclosure of voluntary submissions from private to public.

    • changing the disclosure of plus questions from private to public. This will only apply if the change is applied for an entire module; we are unable to change disclosure at an individual indicator level.

  • Edits or additions related to indicator errors, Reporting Tool errors, and data gaps raised by a signatory but not raised by PRI as a data gap or indicator error. These requests were reviewed on a case-by-case basis by PRI.

This did not include:

  • Indicators not included in the indicator errors and data gaps list, or indicators not directly impacted by an indicator with errors or data gaps. Examples include:

    • minimum requirement indicators Investors for reasons other than a Reporting Tool error.

    • human error or misreporting.

    • forgetting to save an answer.

    • spelling/grammar mistakes.

    • out of date links.

    • the data was not available before the reporting deadline.

    • the answer refers to a new process.

    • something you are doing now which you were not doing before submitting the data.

    • senior leadership statement edits.

    • changes to feedback boxes, including those that were, incorrectly, used by signatories as additional comment boxes.

    • public and/or private disclosure settings on an indicator level.

4. Identify indicators in need of change and record your updated responses in the MS Word version of the module(s).

Signatories that identified indicators with errors in need of change were asked to submit changes to PRI using “Track Changes” in the MS Word version of the Reporting Tool module(s). These modules are available on the Investor reporting guidance or Service provider reporting guidance pages.

Select “Track changes” under the “Review” tab in MS Word before making any changes. This will allow PRI to easily see the updates. Please note that there are otherwise no formatting requirements, e.g., highlighting or colouring in a certain way.

Signatories were asked to the review indicators that they may have been impacted by; we also encouraged signatories to review their report against all indicators. Signatories did not have to fill in indicators that they were not requesting changes to.

See the example below, where MS Word tracks the changes in red:

Track change example v2

After indicating the requested changes in the Word document, we encouraged signatories to include their organisation name in the file title of the module, e.g. “Signatory Name - Organisational Overview”.

5. Submit your change request to the PRI

Signatories were asked to submit all change requests to [email protected] by:

  • attaching the MS Word version of the relevant Investor Reporting or Service Provider Reporting Modules with new tracked change responses

  • listing each of the indicator(s) requested changes to in the email; and

  • providing the name of a contact person who will be available if PRI has any follow up questions about the request.

After submitting the request to [email protected], signatories could expect a confirmation email within two business days.

Data Collection Process

Were signatories required to complete the review of their report?

Reviewing your report and requesting changes to address potential data errors was optional. We allowed signatories four weeks to review their reports and request changes. If we did not hear from signatories within this four-week window, their assessment will be based on the data submitted to the PRI during the 2021 reporting cycle.

When can I expect to receive my updated Transparency Report after I request my changes?

The PRI has followed up with signatories where further changes were required or if we needed clarification. The changes were implemented in the Reporting Tool and we have now re-uploaded signatories’ amended 2021 Transparency Reports privately in the Data Portal. All signatories can view their amended 2021 private Transparency Reports in the Data Portal. Although we have significant internal checks to ensure amendments in reports were made correctly, signatories can flag potential concerns with their amended reports until 28 March, 10 a.m. GMT. Please see our how to flag concerns page for more details.

What if the changes I have requested are not correctly implemented?

We have re-uploaded signatories’ amended Transparency Reports in the Data Portal. If the changes you requested have not been correctly implemented, please contact us at [email protected] by 28 March, 10 a.m. GMT. Once you have submitted your request to [email protected] you should expect a confirmation email within two business days.

I can see my public Transparency Report in the Data Portal, can anyone see my public report?

While you can download parts of your Transparency Report that have been made ‘public’ in the Data Portal, the PRI is not launching 2021 public Transparency Reports until June 2022.

Outputs

Why can I only see my Transparency Report? Where is my Assessment Report?

We are releasing the 2021 reporting outputs in stages, with private Transparency Reports released first in the Data Portal. We aim to release the public Transparency Reports (for investors and service providers) and the private Assessment Reports (only for investors) in June 2022.

Can I receive my Assessment Reports early if I don’t make any changes?

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to receive your Assessment Report early. Signatories’ Assessment Reports will not be available in the Data Portal until signatories have had a chance to flag potential concerns with their amended reports, and Assessment Reports are generated. The PRI intends to release Assessment Reports in June 2022.

How will my assessment be affected by changes to my report?

The Assessment Reports will be based on the amended private Transparency Report. In instances where signatories have not requested changes to their reports where missing data have been identified the assessment will be based on the data submitted to the PRI during the 2021 reporting cycle, and no accommodation can be made for outstanding data errors. This may result in a lower score than if the data error is addressed.

Where do I find my previous reports?

Your reports from 2020 and previous years can be found in the Data Portal, under the “Legacy Reports” tab. The public versions of previous Transparency Reports are also available on our website here.

Fees

Will firms see a reduction in fees in 2022?

The PRI will ensure fees are maintained at their current (2021) level for the coming calendar year. This nominal maintenance of fees at their current level constitutes a reduction of fees in real terms. The PRI offers value to signatories in a number of areas beyond the reporting function, including thought leadership, tools for investors, guidance on ESG integration by asset class, thematic work and more, alongside our global events schedule. As the PRI is a membership organisation, any reduction in fees will have a direct impact on the level of service that it’s possible for the PRI to provide to signatories across these wider areas.

How will fees be calculated in 2022?

Signatory Renewal fees have previously been calculated on Reported Gross AUM. As there will be no reporting in 2022 the renewal fees will be calculated on 2021 reported Gross AUMs. The board have also agreed that going forward all renewal fees will be based on the previous years reported Gross AUM.
