The PRI welcomes the Japan Cabinet Secretariat’s Asset Owner Principles (Proposal). The proposed Principles are an important step toward empowering asset owners, including on responsible investment. In our consultation submission, we also consider recommendations to further clarify that asset owners can and should consider sustainability factors when identifying investment purpose, targets and policies, including through engagement with beneficiaries and assessment of system-level risks.
